OBJECTIVES

After the initial client meeting, our focus was to formulate the overarching goals and motivations behind the study. We delved into the details of how experienced Wikipedia editors1 engage with the search page. We started this study with a set of assumptions provided by the client, derived from their prior research:

Experienced editors predominantly utilize desktop platforms over mobile for their editing endeavors.

The search page is preferred by most editors when conducting searches, as opposed to the search bar.

Editors typically pose more intricate and nuanced search queries compared to casual readers.

These foundational assumptions served as the cornerstone for our exploration. Our objective was to studythe navigation patterns of editors and their interactions with the search page. We aimed to identify potential usability issues or deficiencies in functionality that may impede editors' capability in completing their tasks effectively.
